Higgins demo build instructions [message #4876] |

The "system requirements and dependencies" section seems to have gotten
lost in the move to www.eclipse.org/higgins. The Running the Demo app
page at http://spwiki.editme.com/RunningTheDemoApp points to the Higgins
download page but no such section. Is there fairly detailed
instructions somewhere for an experienced developer who is new to
Eclipse on how to build the demo app? I am interested in participating,
but finding it difficult to get started investigating the project.
TIA,
Jeffrey

I did not get to the spwiki. I read about the demo on this newsgroup.

I wanted to start with a stable release. These are components only.
Has the demo app been dropped?
Looking at the nightly builds, it looks more complete. Like maybe there
is something runnable there.

I have looked at the 0.7 stable packages. A bunch of pieces does not
provide an easy entry into the project. I have looked at some of the
IdAS code. I saw a lot of interfaces, little code that does anything
except store attributes/values.
I am interested in the project. But I am looking for a way to test the
waters before spending a couple of months reading thousands of lines of
Java. My prefered way is to start with running code and work/play with
it. With just component code to examine and no app to work with, this
is an uphill slog.
I will try again with the nightly builds.
