SWT installation frustration [message #52928] Sun, 17 April 2005 00:26 Go to next message

Hi there,

I've installed eclipse 3.1M6 and I want to "build a standalone SWT
Application" as stated in the tutorial section.

At some point i'm asked to locate the swt.jar at:
..\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.swt.<ws>_3.0.0\ws\<ws>\swt.jar

First of all, I don't have a folder named "org.eclipse.swt......" at
..\eclipse\plugins.Is this normal?
And secondly shouldn't it be "3.1.0" instead of "3.0.0"?

Obviously I get a NoClassDefFoundError when compiling. So I've downloaded
swt-3.1M6-win32.zip in ..\eclipse\plugins\org.eclipse.swt.win32_3.1.0\
(I've made up the folder name "org....3.1.0" so it would be "look a like"
with the other files. I know its silly :). After setting the VM argument
right (pointing to the swt.jar) I still get this #^!#$%$#% error!

Is there anyone who can help this newbie out. I really want to learn
working with eclipse but this problem kept me busy for several hours :(

Thanx in forward.

Problem is solved by moving the eclipse folder from Program Files to C:\.
Eclipse seems to have a problem with namespaces.
