Availability? [message #4570] Wed, 05 March 2008 06:43 Go to next message

Hi,

Are there any estimates on when TCS or Xtext (updated to use EMFT MWE, not
older oAW workflow) will be available via download/update-site? I've got
this empty chapter on TMF I'd like to fill ;-)

Thanks!
- Rich

Hi Rich,

we're planning to release the first TMF version of Xtext in July.
If you don't want to wait, we may help you on that chapter so that it'll
be compatible with the first release.

best wishes,
Sven

OK, thanks Sven. I guess I'll keep it high level and work through an
example myself using what's available via oAW now.

If you've got some content to contribute on what's expected, that would be
great. There can always be a second version of the book to cover the
detail.

Thanks,
Rich

TCS will soon (sometime during the summer) migrate to TMF. Until then,
it is still available on GMT:
http://www.eclipse.org/gmt/tcs/

There is also some contents on the Wiki
http://wiki.eclipse.org/TCS

This notably includes a reference to the following paper:
[1] Jouault, F, Bézivin, J, and Kurtev, I : TCS: a DSL for the
Specification of Textual Concrete Syntaxes in Model Engineering. In:
GPCE'06: Proceedings of the fifth international conference on Generative
programming and Component Engineering. 2006.
(see http://www.sciences.univ-nantes.fr/lina/atl/bibliography/GPC E06)

Another thing you might find useful is the library (we call it a "zoo")
of TCS syntaxes available at:
http://wiki.eclipse.org/TCS/Zoo
There are already 10 application examples (i.e., not in the MDE domain),
and 13 applications of TCS to model engineering DSLs like: ATL, KM3, TCS
(it is bootstrapped ;-)), and others.

You may use any of these examples. If you have a specific example in
mind that is not available yet, we can talk about creating it.

Finally, I am available to answer your questions about TCS.
For instance, I could prepare a list of currently supported features
(i.e., those listed in [1] plus the new ones).

Best wishes,

Frédéric
