How can I add a installed server runtime environments?

Window -> Preferences -> Server -> Installed Runtimes.

Then, I got nothing after clicked the "search" button.

I clicked the "add" button, but I could not add anything to it.

I've started my tomcat 5. Can anybody help me?

Thanks~~

In my case, Search... button doesn't find anything too (and I have
Tomcat 4.1.31 and Tomcat 5.0.28 in my system). I had to add them
manually with Add... button.

After you press Add... button you should see a tree with three items:
All, Apache and Basic. Expand Apache and select Apache Tomcat v5.0 then
press Next > button.
In the new window, you should set a name for your server, the location
in the file system of your installation and the JRE to be used.
Important note: all Application Servers need a JDK (not JRE) to be able
to compile JSP pages so you should select a JDK (to have one selectable
you should add it at Window -> Preferences -> Java -> Installed JREs).

Hope this helps,

Chemi.

I'm having the exact same problem. I'm new to this project – so this is my first time installing. Could this error in the .log be related?

"!MESSAGE Unable to find persective org.eclipse.wst.server.ui.perspective in BasicNewProjectResourceWizard.updatePerspective"

It could be, but it is extrange because AFAIK there is no Server
Perspective in this M2, or I haven't seen it in my installation.
Are you using Eclipse 3.0.1? Is it a clean installation?
Another ideas is to try to call this wizard from different perspectives:
Resources, Java, etc.... to verify if the porblem is not associated a
specifc perspective.

Sorry, I don't know what could be happening.....

I'm using a fairly clean install, but I *am* using a 3.1 release of Eclipse. Are there known issues with 3.1? (Or is it just untested/unsupported?)

Thanks!

This release doesn't support version 3.1. The plan is that starting with
M2, we will see requirement of 3.1. Right now, this version will not
work 3.1.

Problem with WTP [message #50727 is a reply to message #50561] Tue, 26 October 2004 06:39 Go to previous message

Hello,

I have installed WTP(the IBM initial Submission) with Eclipse 3.0. I am
trying to deploy a sample JSP to Tomcat 5.0 as described in Server Tools
evaluation
guide( http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/initial-contribution/IBM/eva lGuides/ServerToolsEval.html?p=1).

But I am facing the following problems:
1) I am not able to start the server. It always shows stopped &
republishing.
2) Also, the deploy option is greyed out when I click on the JSP. Same is
the case with the project too.

Please note that I have associated the server with the project. Also, I
have tried with both Sun as well as IBM JDK1.4.1

The tomcat installation is fine, as I can start/stop/deploy to it without
using eclipse.

Any clues...?

Thanks in advance.

P.S:- I have all the prerequisites installed as listed in
http://www.eclipse.org/webtools/initial-contribution/IBM/Get ting%20Started.html.
And the modified tomcatcore.jar as recommended too.
