Hello,

I can't open the report created from within Report Design perspective of
eclipse.(can't see BIRT perspective)

The following error message displays:

"Unable to instantiate editor:
org.eclipse.birt.report.designer.ui.editors.ReportEditor
java.lang.NoclassDefFoundError:org/eclipse/gef/commands/Comm andStack "

What is my solution to this?
Iam using Eclipse 3.0.1, BIRT 1.0.0, EMF 2.0.3, GEF 3.1.0

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks
NP

Hi ,

You need to use GEF 3.0.1. GEF 3.1 is for Eclipse 3.1, and is not supported
in BIRT 1.0.0. You can download the 3.0.1 version here:
http://download.eclipse.org/tools/gef/downloads/drops/R-3.0. 1-200408311615/index.php

Make sure to remove or disable the GEF 3.1 plugins.

Thanks,

David

Is that only an error in the log, or does it prevent you to work normally
with BIRT in any way?

Did you also remove/disable the org.eclipse.draw2d_3.1.0 plugin? Draw2d is
used by GEF, so the version of Draw2D and GEF should be both 3.0.1

What plaform are you using? Windows, Linux,..?

Thanks,

David

Sorry for delayed reply...
I am running eclipse on Linux and the problem seems to be the Mozilla
......Mozilla 1.7 seems to be binary incompatible with the swt part of
eclipse

Followed this:

the rest seems to be OK

Thanks once again...
