Stand Alone program to test [message #43371] Mon, 28 November 2005 23:44 Go to next message

Hello Team,
I have a stand alone eclipse application and would like to run a test on
it. I did not create the application, I just have to test it's
functionality. How would I incorporate it into an Automated GUI test?
What do I need to read to accomplish this?

I have the following installed:
Eclipse 3.2.0 platform, TPTP 4.1.0, the Agent Controller, and everthing
needed from the Requirements section of TPTP 4.1.0.

I have created a couple of Manual Tests and an Automated GUI test suite,
but cannot get the Automated GUI test to run the application's
executible file.

Should I be looking to profile the application that is running?
Scratch that I looked at profiling and still could not get the profile
to run the executible.

Any assistance would be great!
Thank you and have a great day!
-Ruben

Hello Ruben,

You can test the application with the Automated GUI Recorder if it is
integrated under the Eclipse SDK that you are using to run TPTP. The
recorder does not support RCP applications although this is planned in the
future (#114159). TPTP 4.1.0 works with Eclipse 3.1.0 not 3.2.0. Please
see the requirements section under TPTP 4.1 download page.
There is a user guide written on the Automated GUI Recorder which is
accessible through: TPTP's external web site (www.eclipse.org/tptp) >
Documentation > "An Introduction to Using TPTP's Automated GUI Recorder".
If you wish to profile the application, then try the following document:
TPTP's external web site (www.eclipse.org/tptp) > Documentation > "An
Introduction in Profiling Java Applications"
