I've read that Eclipse+CDT allows me to automatically generate the
MAKEFILE needed by the compiler. I can't seem to find out how to get it
to generate.
I'm using the latest version, and right clicking on the project brings a
menu, but it only says stuff like build, rebuild... nothing like 'Generate
Makefile'... I've read (this group) there's an Advanced menu somewhere?
I for one can't stand manually maintaining a makefile at this day in age.
It just sucks. That's why people make IDEs. To HELP developers.
I find that the documentation for CDT is just not there... there's a
quick-start guide that talks about manual makefiles in Windows.... other
sections are missing. It's also dated from about April.
Since I've never used autoconf, automake (manually), it may be easy
enough... autoconf complains about .in files? What the hell...
Thanks for any help... I've been looking for a solid IDE for C++
development for about a year. Eclipse has the most polished look and
seems ALMOST feature complete for me. Now if I could just make a
project....
