Two questions for everyone

- Is ODA something BIRT brewed up, or is it a general specification.
- Are there other eclipse projects using ODA besides birt?

Mike,

ODA is something created for BIRT. There is no spec. BIRT APIs are
documented though the Javadoc in the code and (eventually, once the API
stabilizes) via "how-to" instructions on the web site. Later, there will
probably be formal "how-to" documentation as well.

The BIRT team "owns" ODA. I believe BIRT team members are discussing ODA
with other Eclipse teams, perhaps the BIRT Data team can comment on current
status of those discussions.

Mike,

The ODA framework is contributed by BIRT. It is designed though for use
by any ODA consumer applications, including the BIRT reporting engine.

ODA is being proposed to move into the Eclipse DTP's Connectivity
sub-project. Related discussion can be found in the DTP web site:
http://www.eclipse.org/proposals/eclipse-dtp/f2f_notes.html (see the
sections on Connectivity Break-out Session and DTP Initial Release
Plan).

The DTP web link that I'd posted in the last message is no longer valid.
Please use this DTP top level link instead; its charter document describes
the proposed Connectivity project and ODA.
