Alternative template technology in GMF [message #37595] Sun, 03 September 2006 17:20 Go to next message
Eclipse UserFriend
Hi,

In http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/GMF_GenModel#Code_Generati on it is
said that

Some refactoring is expected in this area, as is the potential to leverage
an alternative template technology.

Does anybody know something about this 'alternative template
technology', when the refactoring is to take place and what's wrong
jet?

wbr, eugen.

We are looking forward to use Xpand template language from oAW
(eclipse.org/gmt/oaw) as an alternative for JET. Hope, we'll introduce it in
few weeks.

Partial list of JET limitations is here
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=151911

Hi Artem,

does that mean the oAW team will join the Europa release?

Regards,
Jan

I guess the answer is no, though I'd better ask oaw guys instead.

Artem,

It would seem odd if Europa has dependencies on things not in Europa.
I.e., I think most folks would expect Europa to be a complete dependency
closure, so unless the dependency is optional, I think folks will expect
it to be included...

I misunderstood the question. Definitely, we are not going to introduce
dependencies that are not part of Europa.

Hi Artem,

mmh. Maybe I just don't get the point, but how are going to use XPand
instead of JET without depending on oAW?

Jan
