Editors opening very slowly on Linux [message #334486] |

I'm using Eclipse 3.4.1 on Fedora, although colleagues who use Ubuntu have
also seen similar issues. Every time I open a new file, it takes a
perceptibly long time -- several seconds -- to actually open the editor
window. I've tried with an empty .eclipse directory and a fresh workspace
and with both GCJ 1.5 and OpenJDK 1.6, and it always happens.
Oddly, for me this is only on my desktop machine; I have no issue on my
laptop, which is running the same version of Fedora.
Is this a known problem? Where should I look for suggestions?
Thanks,
MEF

Hi,
I agree with Igor.
My colleagues and I experimented the same troubles under Ubuntu with gcj
or OpenJDK, and the only solution we found was to switch to the Sun JVM...
Hope that helps
