i've ended up with a messed up java project with eclipse 3.4.1. The CVS
decorators and properties are like that:
Project : HEAD
src : HEAD
com : some branch but without any decorator
tools : branch decorator
So is there a metadata file i can edit to fix this ?

I've copied the Tag file from tools/CVS in Project/CVS and src/CVS and
the decorators are OK now. There must be bugs in eclipse which has
removed these files.
