i want to disable a view's max button, can i? and how?

If you find a way to do this, don't forget that a view can also be
maximized by double-clicking its title bar.

You can make the perspective fixed, that should remove them.

The other thing you can try is to make your view an ISizeProvider (but
that might not work).
