we would like to be unique (and changable) per window instance, and also
persist this information if the entire workspace is shutdown and restarted?
Is there any existing API to facilitate this?
I see that there is already persistance of perspectives, view order, etc....
so I assume there should be some way to do what I am wanting...

If there is not, is there API that someone could point me to so that I could
perhaps instrument this myself (API for persisting data into the
metadata...)
