Eclipse update manager - hooks for custom tasks? [message #329894]

Is there a way to hook into Eclipse update/install manager to run custom
tasks during custom plugin installation from website?

I.e. user adds a new remote site, pulls in a feature with the plugin,
clicks 'install', and a custom code is run upon installation.

Is this possible using Eclipse 3.3?

In 3.3 this is possible using something called 'install handlers'

Note that in 3.4, this process is different with the release of the new
Equinox Provisioning effort (p2) to replace the older update manager.
