This is not a bug report, but it is still a problem for me and I would
appreciate any suggestions or ideas.
I support a team of developers who want to change from CVS to Subversion.
We use Eclipse 3.2.2, and our software product actually is Eclipse 3.2.2
SDK, extended with custom features & plugins that we develop. Our product
also uses a different "eclipse.product" setting in its Eclipse config.ini.
The new Subversion 1.5.1 server I am testing for them, has a start-commit
hook which requires "mergeinfo" client capability before it will allow the
commit.
Subversive works fine with our new Subversion server as long as I run it
from inside the stock Eclipse 3.2.2 SDK. If I do everything the same from
inside our own extended-Eclipse, then the Subversion server thinks I don't
have "mergeinfo" and the start-commit hook fails.
If I temporarily remove the start-commit hook from the Subversion server,
the commit works completely, even from inside our extended-Eclipse
product.
I first noticed something funny about a month ago, because Eclipse Remote
Update refused to find all the necessary Subversive features and plugins
when I ran Remote Update from inside our extended-Eclipse product.
However, the same Remote Update worked fine from inside the stock Eclipse
3.3.2 SDK. If I manually reset the "eclipse.product" property (in
config.ini) back to the standard "org.eclipse.sdk.ide", the Remote Update
for Subversive did work.
At that time, I did not have the start-commit hook in the Subversion
server, everything else seemed to work OK, and I had little reason to
explore it further.
They will not want to adopt Eclipse 3.4 until after the planned
CVS-Subversion conversion (if then).
Subclipse has never given any such problems from inside our
extended-Eclipse product. The new Subversion server's start-commit hook
is no problem for Subclipse, nor did I ever have any trouble with its
Remote Update.
Thanks in advance.
