Get Involved with Eclipse Open Source Projects
Eclipse projects are open to everyone. There are many ways to contribute: report bugs, suggest new features, improve documentation, or even write code.
Find out how you can start contributing to open source projects used around the world.
Getting Started
- Create an Eclipse account and sign the Eclipse Contributor Agreement.
- Use our project finder to discover the projects in our ecosystem.
- Review the contribution guide for the project you’d like to contribute to, which can be found in the project’s repository.
- Create a commit to be added to the project’s repository (this typically takes the form of code or documentation) or open an issue.
- When your code is ready, upload your contribution to the project repository and create a pull request.
- After the pull request is opened, you’ll work with the project team to review potential changes and add follow-up commits before your changes are merged to the base branch.
Become a Committer
Committers are the trusted contributors who can make direct changes to a project’s codebase. Becoming a committer is a merit-based process that recognises sustained, high-quality contributions. You can become a committer by proposing and leading a new project or by earning commit rights on an existing project through ongoing involvement. To learn more about the responsibilities and expectations of this role, check out our committer training.
