As noted below in the financial summary, the continued growth of the Eclipse Foundation has come in every aspect of our business: including membership, committer and contributor communities, and in particular, an increase in the number of organisations participating in our working groups and interest groups. Indeed, our membership and working group revenues have grown significantly each of the past 3 years, all following from the completion of our move to Europe in 2020. We believe that this growth in participation is a clear indication that our initiatives are of value to our members and to our community. I welcome all our members to consider bringing new open source projects and industry initiatives to the Eclipse Foundation to reach out to me directly, or to our team at collaborations@eclipse-foundation.org.
I also want to call out the work being done by so many of our staff and community leaders in support of our new OCX 2024 conference scheduled for October 22 - 24 in Mainz, Germany.
This exciting initiative marks a new chapter for the Eclipse Foundation, with several key changes designed to better serve our diverse community:
First, we're thrilled to welcome EclipseCon as one of the main collocated events at OCX 2024. This brings together the rich ecosystem of projects under the Eclipse Foundation's umbrella for a truly comprehensive community experience.
Second, we're moving to a brand new location in Mainz, Germany. This fresh venue allows us to accommodate the growth of the conference and provide a dynamic environment for collaboration.
Third, to ensure a focused experience for each community, we'll be implementing collocated conferences within OCX 2024. Each community will have its own independent program committee, allowing for tailored content and sessions that cater to their specific needs.
Finally, this significant transformation wouldn't be possible without the incredible efforts of our staff and community leaders. I want to express my sincere gratitude for their dedication and hard work in bringing OCX 2024 to life.
Stay tuned for more updates and get ready to join us in October as an attendee, speaker or a sponsor.
Personally, I am excited about the work being done by our community in our projects. All the work the Eclipse Foundation team does is ultimately in support of the technology we are collectively developing. I thank each of you for your support, and your input on how we can improve is always welcome.
I am pleased to report that our membership remains strong. As of February 29, we have 365 Corporate Members and 2,061 Committers. The Eclipse Foundation’s finances are on target. For the third year in a row, we ended 2023 ahead of budget, ending with a small operating loss consistent with our planned growth. The 2024 budget which was approved by the Board in December 2023 includes further growth for the Foundation, once again driven by our working groups and new initiatives.
