The Eclipse Foundation Announces the general availability of Eclipse Embedded Rich Client Platform (eRCP) v1.0

Participate at the Eclipse Summit in Esslingen, October 11-12th, 2006! The Eclipse Summit Europe, presented by the Eclipse Foundation is a unique event here in Central Europe. In addition to a variety of opportunities for networking with other members of the eclipse community, the program features tracks and events targetted for all parts of the community.

Registration deadline for Eclipse Membership Meeting and Marketing Seminar is 5pm EDT, September 18th, 2006.

The Eclipse Foundation is announcing three webinars, Rich Ajax Platform, CDT, and Mylar Webinars will be taking place, starting Sept 27th.

The Eclipse Foundation, an open source community committed to the implementation of a universal development platform, today announced that it has approved the creation of the Aperi Storage Management Framework Project. The Aperi Project, which was proposed in June 2006, will give customers more choices for deploying open-storage infrastructure software - based on an industry-stand ard framework developed by the open source community.

We would like to get your feedback on Eclipse Plugin Central (EPIC). EPIC is a portal for all things in the Eclipse ecosystem and we are looking to make it better. Eclipse Foundation today announced a recent Evans Data Survey confirms a significant increase in the adoption of the Eclipse Rich Client Platform (RCP) by Eclipse users. Approximately 22% of the survey respondents indicated they were building rich client applications based on Eclipse RCP; an increase of over 130% based on a previous 2005 study. The survey also indicates strong future growth and interest in Eclipse RCP, with 68% of respondents indicating they will be using it in the next six months.

The Eclipse Foundation is hosting a party at the Eclipse World conference on Sept. 6.

The Eclipse Foundation is proud to announce that the Callisto Release is now available for download.

The Callisto RC4a release is now available for download and testing.

To access the Callisto RC4a projects, you must first download the latest download.eclipse.org. Remember that the Callisto Great Bug Hunt is still on. Your feedback is required!

The Eclipse Foundation today launched a community portal to promote the adoption of Eclipse-based commercial products, complementary open source projects and Eclipse-related training, support and services. The portal, Eclipse Plug-in Central ( EPIC), makes it easier than ever for developers, software vendors and enterprises to find high quality open source and commercial plug-ins, tools and add-on services to enhance their Eclipse development. The EPIC portal will be a key part of the Eclipse Foundation’s effort to promote and grow the overall Eclipse ecosystem.

The Eclipse Foundation today announced the creation of a new top-level project, called the Eclipse Modeling Project. The new project will focus on the evolution and promotion of model-based development technologies within the Eclipse community. Richard Gronback of Borland Software and Ed Merks of IBM were selected as project co-leaders, and are teaming to continue to advance Eclipse modeling technologies and to drive adoption of open standards related to software modeling.

This presentation is ideal of anyone just getting started with Eclipse plug-in development or considering creating their first plug-in. You'll learn the fundamentals of plug-in development along with specific solutions for common challenges that you might encounter. The presentation is based on the best selling book coauthored by Clayberg and Rubel, Eclipse: Building Commercial-Quality Plugins, now in its second edition -- and is presented by the authors!
