Chris is the past component lead for the Web Services Tools components of WTP. He is currently a committer for the Web Services Tools components of WTP.

Biography

Chris is a senior advisory technical manager for Rational Java Web Services Tools at the IBM Toronto Lab, and a committer on the Eclipse Web Tools Platform project. He is responsible for the architecture, design and delivery of the tools for Web services in IBM's WebSphere and Rational Tools products, with emphasis on the Java standards for Web services. He has lead the development of Web services tools since 2000, and is skilled in the theory and application of standards and specifications including XML, XSD, WSDL, SOAP, UDDI, WS-I, JSR-101, JSR-109, WS-Inspection and WS-Security.

Chris has filed a number of patents for inventions in the course of developing tools for distributed systems including Web services. He has presented in conferences such as SHARE, in online Webcasts, and in a number of customer engagements concerning the standards, runtimes, tools and best practices most relevant to Web services. Prior to working on Web services, he was the technical lead on tools for IBM's implementation of CORBA. During his employment with IBM, he has focused on the theory of, testing of, and invention of development of tools for a variety of distributed systems and protocols.

Chris joined IBM as a full time employee in 1989, shortly after graduating from the University of Victoria with a BSc in Computer Science with co-op distinction.
