Using existing EclipseRT technologies, the RTP project provides a package that can be used to set up a runtime for different platforms and architectures - for example, Servers, Clients or the Cloud. Besides this the RTP project provides examples and guidance on how to go further.
In future, the RT configurator can be used to extend and manage an existing runtime installation. To accomplish this you will be able to use both a Web UI or the headless variant via a console.
To get started with an EclipseRT package you simply need to decide on a few parameters. The most important is simply where you want to install a runtime, e.g. on a Server or in the Cloud. Then you are only 3 steps away from starting up your EclipseRT: Download, Run, Explore.
Setting up a runtime based on Eclipse is not a simple task. If you tried this own your own a few times you may feel a little like a collector, putting together the needed bundles from different resources. This is all done for you with the RT Packages.
