Project Plan For Eclipse Presentation Modeling Framework, version 1.0

Introduction

Eclipse Presentation Modeling Framework project is a modeling solution and code generation facility to build enterprise data presentation application. It provides the basic functional concepts of user interaction in a PIM level UI modeling language. This framework is highly extensible and can be integrated with any UI technology such as SWT/Jface, e4, JSF, XUL, Swing, GWT, Ajax, Silverlight or others. The final goal is to provide a rich-feature, intrusive, high extensible UI MDA framework.

Target Environments

In order to remain current, each release of an Eclipse project targets reasonably current versions of underlying operating environments and other Eclipse projects on which it depends.  Most of Eclipse is "pure" Java code and has no direct dependence on the underlying operating system. The chief dependence is on the Eclipse Platform, and on the Java 2 Platform that runs it. The Presentation Modeling Framework Project version 1.0 release depends on the following: Java 2 Platform, version 1.4.2 Eclipse Platform 3.6 Windows 2000/XP/Windows7 Linux/GTK MAC OS Carbon/ The 1.0 release of Presentation Modeling Framework Project is designed to run on any configuration supporting the above components. Presentation Modeling Framework Project 1.0 will be tested and validated on the following reference platforms: Eclipse Reference Platforms Operating system Processor architecture Window system Java 2 Platform SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10 x86-32 GTK Sun Java 2 Standard Edition 5.0 Update 4 for Linux x86 Microsoft Windows Vista/7 Intel x86 Win32 Sun Java 2 Standard Edition 5.0 Update 4 for Microsoft Windows

Internationalization

The PMF project will be developed by providing English strings in its default bundles and be localized to a subset of those locals offered by the Platform. This support will be respected in the final release 1.0.
