Vision

As a member these past few years, we've experienced some of the challenges ahead first hand. As a board representative, I would focus on improving the community experience and ease of participation. Project discovery via the Eclipse website (https://projects.eclipse.org/) could expose information to users in a much more accessible fashion. We still use forums and mailing lists for discussing topics. There are newer mediums of community collaboration that could be leveraged to accelerate participation.

Code submission seems overwhelmingly difficult. It seems a more social and widely used source code repository (like Github) could facilitate more common updates and interaction from the community.

One of the main improvements I'd like to see is an easier way to review and collaborate on drafts. If you even have access to drafts, they are often distributed as Word documents. Adding social components or web based discussions at an early stage will facilitate more collaboration and feedback when it's most important. A lot of our process is still hidden behind emails. Referencing some of the more heated discussions last year it's clear that we could improve upon communication and solicit feedback, even constructive criticism, more easily.
