Is there a best approach to installing Eclipse in a computer lab where multiple students will be logging in as themselves on these computers? This is a local computer lab and no servers involved.

I was curious if Eclipse can be installed in a computer lab environment and when each student opens Eclipse IDE Launcher he or she will will have his or own workspace and not see where someone else has logged on and created a workspace.

From what I have read it sounds like Eclipse is meant for individual installation for that individual person.

Thanks.

There's documentation about that here:

https://help.eclipse.org/latest/index.jsp?topic=%2Forg.eclipse.platform.doc.isv%2Freference%2Fmisc%2Fmulti_user_installs.html

If you use the installer, it's important to read the details here, i.e., the details about the bundle pool, where it's located and the fact that it too much be read-only for the users:

https://www.eclipse.org/setups/installer/question/

The simplest for such a purpose is to unzip one of the packages in a read-only location that all the users share. Each user will of course use their own workspace in their own home folder.
