Java 8 is no longer supported. Java 11 has long-term support. If Birt is not made compatible with Java 11, it will die.

Will Birt 4.9 support Java 11 and what are the plans for the future?

It is risky to use Birt if it does not get at least a minimum of support.

It is open source. You can help. The project lives here: https://github.com/eclipse/birt

Java 8 is supported until march 2022
Birt runs fine under java 11
